Water Wise Water Conservation and Protection Tips Sometimes, water conservation measures can accomplish water protection goals as well. Landscape with native plants to reduce water needs. Our native plants are ideally suited for our climate and seldom need extra watering. Sweep patios, drives and sidewalks, don't hose them. Water runoff from concrete and pavement carry contaminants into the groundwater. Fix leaks promptly. Dripping sinks and running toilets can waste thousands of gallons of water - and increase your water bill. Water in early morning or late evening. Less water will be lost to evaporation.
